Living with Rosacea: Treatments to Reduce Symptoms

June 7, 2021

Rosacea is a skin condition causing red patches and visible blood vessels on the face, that results from increased blood flow. More than 3 million people a year are diagnosed with rosacea according to The American Academy of Dermatology. Even though it may not cause any irritation or itching, it can be very embarrassing in some situations. This is a chronic condition which can also include small, red bumps mostly on your forehead and cheeks. The exact cause is unknown, but it has many triggering factors.

Living with Rosacea

These are some things you can do at home to reduce the symptoms associated with rosacea. These include avoiding triggers such as:

  • Alcohol
  • Caffeine
  • Spicy foods
  • Hot baths or drinks
  • Most cosmetics and common skincare products

It is also important to reduce your stress as much as possible. The more emotional or physical stress you are under, the worse your rosacea will be.  If your symptoms are bothersome and causing you distress, the experts at Bay Dermatology will help you decide which therapy is best for you.
