Medical Assistant Greater Tampa Bay Area

Immediate opening for a full time capable, hardworking, team player, Medical Assistant (MA) to join our dermatology practice. The successful candidate will be stable, experienced, willing to work as a team and handle a variety of MA related duties.

The MA provides assistance to the licensed-medical doctor in multiple settings including the clinic and outpatient surgical settings. MAs provide safe, knowledgeable, compassionate individualized care to all patients.

Since 1988, our dermatology group has offered central Florida patients the region’s highest quality care for advanced treatment of all skin, hair, and nail disorders. Our Board-Certified dermatologists specialize in diseases of the skin, skin cancer, psoriasis therapy, and ultraviolet light therapy, as well as a variety of cosmetic procedures. We take great pride in the personal, one-on-one attention we give to our patients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serve as a patient advocate during patient exam, surgery and treatment

• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms organized, neat, and clean

• Measure patients’ vital signs, weight and height

• Record patients’ medical history, medications, allergies, vital signs and test results in an Electronic Health Record (EHR)

• Set up a sterile surgical tray with all surgical items needed

• Assist the physician during surgery while maintaining sterile field

• Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician following safety protocol of right dose, right patient, right route, right drug and noting expiration date

• Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing

• Schedule appointments for patients: including surgery appointments (Mohs surgery, excisions) and clinic appointments (wound checks, Mohs consultations, suture removals, etc.):

• Know the basic difference between a pacemaker and defibrillator

• Know basic external anatomy of the head and neck (for example, know that the nasal sidewall is on the nose, conchal bowl is on the ear, occipital scalp is the back of the scalp, etc.)

• Respond to patient questions in office and by phone, as instructed. • Inventory and order medical supplies (monthly) and ensure all equipment is in proper working order

• Perform accurate documentation of all procedures in a timely manner. Input information efficiently into the EHR (we currently use Modernizing Medicine – EMA)

• Adhere to all policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities

• Uphold a culture of high-quality medical care, supportive work environment, and excellent patient experience

• Perform other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the practice.

Job Type:

• Full-time

Experience Requirements:

• One (1) + year experience in a medical setting, required

• One (6) + months experience in a dermatological setting, preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

• Knowledge of medical terminology – required

• Prior EMA experience – preferred • Knowledge of sterile technique, anatomy, and medications

• Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable

• Management and organizational skills to support the leadership of this function

• Ability to follow or provide verbal & written instructions with sufficient grammar and spelling skills to avoid mistakes or misinterpretations

• Interpersonal skills to support patient experience

• Functional abilities to carry teammate needs and a supportive work culture

• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

• Mathematical and/or analytical ability for basic to intermediate problem solving

• Basic to intermediate computer operation

• Basic to intermediate understanding of EHR programs

• Specialty knowledge of systems relating to job function

• Knowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA guidelines

Patient Scheduler Greater Tampa Bay Area

IMMEDIATE openings for Patient Schedulers. The courteous and customer service-oriented individual will answer phones, address questions and inquiries, schedule patients for appointments, and input/update patient information in company’s EMR system.

As the first point of contact with patients, the Patient Schedulers is a crucial, highly valued of member of the team. Excellent customer service skills, a caring demeanor, and the ability to take appointment in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform insurance verifications and authorizations.

• Make outbound follow-up calls to patients.

• Collect and update pertinent patient information.

• Create and promote positive patient experience.

• Maintain HIPAA compliant environment.

• Participate in various projects and/or tasks as assigned by management.

• Minimum High School Diploma

• 2+ years’ experience answering phones, scheduling appointments

• Superior phone etiquette and friendly, helpful attitude

• Ability to demonstrate compassion when dealing with patients and family members

• Preferred: knowledge of patient confidentiality, state laws, HIPAA regulations and medical records procedures

• Preferred but not required: graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program or a Medical Assistant certificate of completion

Job Type:
